Swiss police: Geneva mosque vandalized
GENEVA — Swiss police say a Geneva mosque has been vandalized, three days ahead of a national vote on whether to ban the construction of minarets as an Islamic intrusion.
Patrick Pulh, spokesman for the Geneva police, says unidentified individuals threw a pot of pink paint at the entrance of the Geneva Mosque early Thursday.
He says this is the third incident against the mosque in recent weeks and police have yet to find the vandals.
Earlier this month, a vehicle with a loudspeaker drove through the area imitating a muezzin’s call to prayer. Like the three other minarets at mosques in Switzerland, the Geneva structure is unused for calls to prayer.
A few weeks later, cobble stones were thrown at the mosque, damaging a mosaic.
