Sarkozy: China holding up climate talks
COPENHAGEN — French President Nicolas Sarkozy says progress in climate talks is being held back by China.
Sarkozy spoke to reporters briefly after an unscheduled meeting Friday with President Barack Obama and other world leaders in a last-minute attempt to craft a climate deal.
Sarkozy said China is slowing the process to negotiate an agreement to cut global emissions of greenhouse gases.
The informal talks between the world leaders delayed the opening of the regular session on the final day of the two-week U.N. climate conference. The negotiations were said to be in disarray Friday.
