San Diego Coast Guard, recreational boats collide

SAN DIEGO — Authorities say a Coast Guard patrol boat has collided with a recreational boat in San Diego Bay.

Coast Guard spokesman Lt. Josh Nelson says there have been injuries reported in the crash that occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday, but it was not yet clear how many people were on the boats and how many were injured.

The Coast Guard vessel was a 33-foot patrol boat, but Nelson did not know the size of the recreational boat.

Nelson says an 87-foot Coast Guard cutter and San Diego Harbor police are at the scene.
