Bloomberg hires Time deputy to lead BusinessWeek

NEW YORK — Bloomberg L.P. says it is hiring Time magazine deputy managing editor Josh Tyrangiel to become the editor of BusinessWeek when it takes over the magazine next month.

The 37-year-old Tyrangiel also currently serves as Time.com’s managing editor.

He will report to Bloomberg chief content officer Norman Pearlstine, a former editor at Time.

Bloomberg, a news and financial information provider based in New York, agreed last month to acquire BusinessWeek from McGraw-Hill Companies Inc., looking to expand into consumer media.

The magazine’s current top editor, Stephen Adler, plans to step down after holding the job for more than four years.
