NY skydiver survives after failing to slow down
BARRE, N.Y. — Officials say a skydiver who fell too fast and was knocked unconscious when she hit the ground in western New York has been treated at a hospital.
The Orleans County sheriff’s office says Kristin M. Adduci misjudged her distance from the ground during a jump around 10 p.m. Saturday at the Pine Hill Airport in Barre. It’s about 30 miles east of Rochester.
Undersheriff Steven D. Smith says Adduci failed to slow her descent, so she hit the ground faster than planned. The 33-year-old Buffalo resident was jumping with a group from the Rochester Skydiving Center.
A center manager didn’t immediately return a telephone call Sunday. No telephone number could be found for Adduci.
