Palin arrives to cheering crowd at Fort Hood

FORT HOOD, Texas — A cheering crowd has greeted former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin at Fort Hood in Texas.

Palin stopped at Fort Hood as part of her national book-signing tour. Her visit comes a month after a mass shooting at the Army post left 13 dead and scores more wounded.

About 1,250 fans showed up to get signed copies of Palin’s book, “Going Rogue.” Because of limited space, only about 250 people were allowed in the food court building to see the former Alaska governor.

Palin walked inside, waved, smiled and then sat at a table blocked from view by several black partitions. She didn’t make any remarks. She hasn’t been speaking to most reporters during her tightly controlled, stay-on-message book tour.
