Kent WA police investigating Boeing plant death

KENT, Wash. — A Kent Fire Department spokesman says Kent police and Boeing officials are investigating the death of a man at the Boeing plant in the south Seattle suburb. Capt. Kyle Ohashi said the unidentified man died Wednesday in what Ohashi said “appears to be an industrial accident.”

The spokesman says firefighters responded to the plant about 2 p.m. PST and confirmed that a man had died “as a result of a piece of machinery.” Ohashi says the man was authorized to use the machinery.

Still, because of what Ohashi describes as “the unusual circumstances of the death,” police are investigating.

Boeing spokeswoman Kimberlee Beers confirms an employee fatality at the Kent plant, part of Boeing’s defense side. She declined to identify the employee or discuss any details until the investigation is complete.
