Escalator fire hits NYC’s flagship Macy’s store
NEW YORK — The flagship Macy’s store at New York City’s Herald Square has been evacuated because of an escalator fire.
The fire department says no injuries have been reported reported from the fire in an escalator between the third and fourth floors.
The fire started just after 4 p.m. Sunday on one of the biggest shopping days of the year.
Hundreds of customers were evacuated because of heavy smoke.
