BHOPAL - Madhya Pradesh Police Tuesday arrested the driver of the IIM-Indore professor who was found killed in her residence last week, police said.
Anil Patel was questioned Monday and taken into custody Tuesday for his alleged role in the murder of professor Amrita Pancholi.
Amrita, 32, was found lying in a pool of blood at her residence in the high-security institute campus Friday with at least a dozen wounds on her body. She was stabbed with a knife.
Amrita’s neighbours informed the police Friday morning when they saw that the doors of her house had not been opened till 8 a.m. The professor usually used to leave the house early in the morning for work. She was last seen at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday by a neighbour.
Amrita, who belonged to Udaipur in Rajasthan, had been working at IIM-Indore for one-and-a-half years. The police had doubts that someone known to the deceased and having an easy access to the campus was involved in the crime.
Several people, including her neighbours, students and colleagues were interrogated.
“We have got substantial clues and the facts will soon be told to the media,” Indore Inspector General Sanjay Rana told IANS.
