Police: Fla. student fatally stabbed at school

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Authorities say a South Florida high school is on lockdown after a student was fatally stabbed.

Police spokeswoman Janette Frevola says it happened at Coral Gables Senior High School on Tuesday morning.

Miami-Dade police sent out a news release saying they were responding to the school’s address for a “death investigation.”

Miami-Dade schools superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho says there has been a stabbing at the school and someone has breached security. He was at the state Board of Education meeting in Miami but had to leave to attend to the incident.

Authorities have not released additional details.
