Hawks’ Horford rests ankle

CLEVELAND — Atlanta starting center Al Horford was held out of practice because of a tender ankle and is a game-time decision for Thursday’s Game 2 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Horford, who sprained his right ankle in Game 5 of Atlanta’s opening-round series against Miami, played 25 minutes in the Hawks’ 99-72 loss on Tuesday in the series opener. At practice Wednesday, Hawks coach Mike Woodson said Horford was feeling “some fatigue” in his ankle.

One of Atlanta’s better interior defenders, Horford scored four points and had eight rebounds in Game 1. He played just over two minutes in the fourth quarter.

If Horford is too hurt to play, the Hawks could start Zaza Pachulia or Soloman Jones up front with Maurice Evans and Josh Smith.
