AP Interview: US dad would let relatives visit son

RIO DE JANEIRO — A U.S. man fighting for custody of his son in Brazil says if he wins his case, he will allow the boy’s Brazilian family visitation.

David Goldman tells The Associated Press he will accept no other outcome than being fully reunited with his 9-year-old son, Sean, whose fate is in the hands of the Brazilian courts.

Goldman told the AP in an exclusive interview Sunday that he will only accept a ruling that allows him to return to New Jersey with the boy, who was taken to the South American nation by his late ex-wife in 2004.

The boy’s mother divorced Goldman in Brazil, remarried and died last year in childbirth.

Sean’s Brazilian stepfather is fighting for custody, and his lawyer is proposing a negotiated a settlement.
