Amstrong-Michael-Collins-Buzz-AldrinLet’s remember and celebrate the great day, yes July 20  is the moon-day. Forty years back in this day Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin had a little moon walking on the surface of moon.

Neil Armstrong  was the first person to set foot on the Moon.  Armstrong’s second and last spaceflight was as mission commander of the Apollo 11 moon landing mission on July 20, 1969.

On this mission, Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin descended to the lunar surface and spent 2½ hours exploring while Michael Collins remained in orbit in the Command Module.

Initially, Aldrin thought that he would be first to walk on the Moon, based on the experience of Gemini. A March 1969 meeting determined that Armstrong would be the first person on the Moon, in some part because NASA management saw Armstrong as a person who did not have a large ego.

Neil Armstrong placed his left foot on the surface at 2:56 UTC July 21, 1969, then spoke the following:

That’s one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind.

About 15 minutes after the first step, Aldrin joined Armstrong on the surface and became the second human to set foot on the Moon. The duo began their tasks of investigating how easily a person could operate on the lunar surface.

Sadly this greatest day when human able to established a bridge of extraordinary courage and science to eliminate the gap between the Earth and her Moon is an almost forgotten day, and this moon day is still not recognised as a holiday.

Happy Moon Day.
