First lady reads Christmas classic to sick kids

WASHINGTON — Sick children at a hospital in the nation’s capital got a dose of holiday cheer when first lady Michelle Obama paid them a visit.

She also brought along daughters Malia and Sasha and the family dog, Bo.

Mrs. Obama read the Christmas classic “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Her daughters read a book titled “Snowmen at Night.”

Mrs. Obama’s visit Tuesday to Children’s National Medical Center continued a tradition that began with Bess Truman.
