Chicago’s Michigan Ave. to close for Winfrey show

CHICAGO — Oprah Winfrey is bringing her show to the streets of downtown Chicago next week.

A Harpo Productions spokeswoman said Tuesday that Winfrey is celebrating the kickoff of the 24th season of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” by taping the show on a stretch of Chicago’s Michigan Avenue.

Part of the street, which is known as the Magnificent Mile, will be shut down from early Monday until early Wednesday, Sept. 9. The taping is on Tuesday and will feature a performance by the Black Eyed Peas. Admission is free and open to the public.

The show will air late next week.
