Recalls: gas grills, pacifiers, youth sweat shirts

The following recalls have been announced:

About 664,700 Perfect Flame SLG series gas grills in the U.S. and Canada. The gas grills, made in China by Lucas Innovation Inc. and imported by L G Sourcing Inc., are recalled because the burners can deteriorate, causing irregular flames, and the lids of some models can catch fire, posing fire and burn hazards. There have been about 40 reports of fires from the burners deteriorating and about 23 reports of the lids catching fire. A reported eye injury required surgery, and there were 21 incidents of minor burns to the hands, arms or face. The recalled gas grills were sold at Lowe’s retail outlets nationwide in the U.S. from September 2005 through May 2009 and in Canada from December 2007 through May 2009. Details: by phone at 888-840-9590; by Web at www.lowes.com or www.cpsc.gov.

About 641,000 Bobby Chupete pacifiers, manufactured in China and imported by Grand World Inc. of Maspeth, N.Y., because the mouth guard is too small, creating a choking risk. No incidents have been reported. They were sold nationwide between November 2004 and July 2009. Details: by phone at 718-326-7786; by Web at www.grandworldinc.com or www.cpsc.gov.

About 17,000 youth hooded sweat shirts and jackets, manufactured in China and imported by Century 21 Promotions of Seattle, because drawstrings through the hoods could trap or strangle children. No incidents have been reported. They were sold at a variety of stores — primarily in New England, Washington and Alaska — between September 2005 and September 2009. Details: by Web at www.cpsc.gov.

About 90 EXO-Tech safety harnesses for hunting, manufactured in the Philippines by Gorilla Inc. of Flushing, Mich., because of a defect that could allow a user to fall when force is applied to the harness. Additionally, the back of the harness includes an untested carabiner connector. No incidents have been reported. The harnesses were sold at Cabelas, Bass Pro and at various sporting goods stores nationwide from May 2009 to August 2009. Details: by phone at 877-685-7817 or www.gorillatreestands.com or www.cpsc.gov.

Nassau Candy Distributors is recalling Tasty Dish Snack Tubs of chocolate almonds, chocolate raisins and sour neon gummy worms. The products contain undeclared almonds, soy and milk and they might contain undeclared peanuts and other tree nuts. No illnesses have been reported, according to the Hicksville, N.Y., company. Those who have an allergy to any of these ingredients run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they eat the products. The recall involves products that are missing a back label. They were distributed and sold nationwide to Bed Bath & Beyond retail stores. For more information, consumers can call 516-433-7100.
