Police say shooter targeting moving cars in Ohio

BEREA, Ohio — Police in a Cleveland suburb say they think someone has been shooting at moving vehicles over the last few months.

Berea (buh-REE’-uh) police say four vehicles have been damaged in three shootings since mid-August.

No one has been hurt, but police Lt. Gary Black says it’s a dangerous situation.

The latest shooting happened early Saturday when the driver of an SUV found a bullet hole in a rear window.

Police say all the shootings have happened within a half-mile area in a residential neighborhood. They say the caliber of weapon used is similar.

A Columbus man was sentenced to 27 years in prison for shooting at cars and buildings on and around central Ohio highways in late 2003 and early 2004. One person died.

(This version CORRECTS that the latest shooting hit a rear window, not the rear bumper.)
