Keylong freezes at minus 9.6 degrees Celsius

SHIMLA - Keylong was the coldest place in Himachal Pradesh Tuesday, as the minimum temperature there fell to minus 9.6 degrees Celsius, weather officials said.
Manmohan Singh, director of the meteorological office here, said Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest place in the state, with minimum temperature of minus 9.6 degrees Celsius.
He said high altitude areas remained under grip of freezing cold whereas the temperature rose marginally in mid and lower areas.
Shimla, located in mid hills, recorded a maximum of 17.9 degrees Celsius, up by 1.7 degree in comparison to Monday.
Popular tourist destination Manali was sunny during the day, but it turned cloudy late in the afternoon.
The Met office has forecast dry weather in the lower areas, but the high hills could witness rain or snow Wednesday.
