Heating oil prices up 2 pennies in Maine

AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine energy officials say the average price of home heating oil has gone up 2 cents over the past week.

The Governor’s Office of Energy Independence and Security said Monday that its weekly survey puts the average price at $2.57 a gallon.

Director John Kerry says prices remain largely stable because of adequate crude oil inventories and a lack of extreme cold weather. The average consumer price has been largely unchanged since late October.

Officials say northern Maine had the highest price at $2.80 per gallon while the lowest price of $2.28 per gallon was found in the southwestern region.
