Advisory issued against cider from Minn. orchard
ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is advising consumers to avoid drinking any remaining Minnesota Harvest brand apple cider from an orchard in Jordan, Minn.
Lab tests found the cider was contaminated with a type of mold toxin. The agriculture department says no illnesses have been associated with the contamination.
While the product is no longer for sale, any consumers who still have it on hand are asked to discard it.
The cider was sold earlier this year in gallon and half-gallon plastic jugs at the Minnesota Harvest retail facility southwest of the Twin Cities in Jordan.
The cider was contaminated with patulin, a mycotoxin found in moldy fruits, vegetables and other foods.
