NEW YORK — A law enforcement official says an Afghan immigrant charged in a New York terrorism plot was helped by associates who traveled to Colorado to buy bomb supplies with stolen credit cards.

NEW YORK — An Afghan immigrant trained in explosives by al-Qaida traveled from the terrorist camps of Pakistan to the beauty shops of suburban Denver for chemical ingredients to make bombs, authorities charged in papers describing one of the most significant post-Sept. 11 terror threats to the United States.

DENVER — Investigators said they found notes describing how to make bombs in the handwriting of an airport shuttle driver arrested as part of a terrorism investigation, and they also discovered his fingerprints on materials — batteries and a scale — that could be used to make explosives.
