ISLAMABAD - Eunuchs in Pakistan have claimed that they are treated worse than animals in the country, highlighting that there is a Government department for wildlife and animals, but no department yet exists for eunuchs.

Addressing the media at the Hyderabad Press Club, representatives of a newly formed organisation for eunuchs ‘Bedar Aman Faqeer’, Yasmeen Faqeer and Ashraf Sayan, said that they were not treated as human beings.

They said that were thankful to Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry for taking suo moto notice and directing their registration, and it termed as a ray of hope for getting the rights for their community, The News reports.

The representatives further said that insult of eunuchs should also be stopped in various forms of the media, including television, films and theatre and special quota should be fixed in Government departments and a seat should be reserved for them in the assembly.

They also demanded action against people who harass them and urged for national identity cards to register the eunuchs as per the directives of the Supreme Court. (ANI)
