LONDON - Actress Rene Zellweger was desperate to attend US President Barack Obama’s inauguration and at the last minute went to Washington DC alone.

According to contactmusic.com, Zellweger went unrecognised at the capital joining millions of others to watch the swearing-in ceremony. She didn’t mind not sitting with the other celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who all watched the event from the front rows.

She said: ‘I just had to be there. I was a bit obsessed… so, with no tickets, and no plan, and no access, I got on a train and I just went. I walked for three hours and stood on a police barricade… I was prepared for the crowd, I was prepared for the cold, I wasn’t prepared for how emotional it was going to be. I am so glad I was there.’
