BHOPAL - Youth Congress workers Monday held demonstrations at all district headquarters across Madhya Pradesh to protest unscheduled power cuts and “inflated bills” to the farmers and domestic consumers.

“Madhya Pradesh is facing a severe power crisis as the electricity shortage has jumped to over 1,500 MW during the peak hours and the situation is not good during the off-peak hours as well”, said state Youth Congress president Jitu Patwari who led the demonstration in the state capital.

“The state’s rural areas, tehsil, district and divisional headquarters are witnessing power cuts for 14 hours, 12, five and three hours daily respectively,” he claimed, adding that despite the cuts consumers were being victimised and being forced to pay inflated bills.

Patwari warned that the Youth Congress would intensify its agitation if things do not improve.

shortage has come down from 1500 mw on aug 3 to 700 mw on nov 8 but the crisis is the worst of my 50 years life time.small shartage of 7.5 kwh per capita per month can cause such a crisis like 8 hours cut in working time is due to 1.free electricity supply for votes 2.uncontrolled theft and loot of electricity 3.complete ingnorance of us about energy.Iam unable to understand that why we are not using free and infinite solar thermal energy ,why the govt . is helpless to make us understand the fact that every citizen of MP receives 90 lac kwh/ capita/year solar thermal energy when electricity shortfall is only 90 kwh /capita/year.i will plead CM power minister,MP citizens and myself to use free, infinite and green solar thermal energy to convert MP in richest and healthiest state from its cureent stattus of most bimaru state
