AGRA - The usually dry Yamuna river flowed in full spate in Agra Wednesday, providing a “pleasant sight” in the backdrop of the Taj Mahal.

“For so long we have been used to a river which had been reduced to a sewage canal, but now the whole scenario has changed. Everything looks so beautiful from Babar’s Ram Bagh to the picturesque Taj Mahal with the river at the rear in full flow. It was a very pleasant sight,” said tourist photographer Vishal.

District authorities Wednesday heaved a sigh of relief as the rising water level in river Yamuna stabilised a few feet below the danger mark of 495 feet in Agra.

Official sources said the flood threat had receded for the time being.

Officials said they had been closely monitoring the rise in the water level of the river.
