Female suspect in 6 bank robberies is arrested
HARTFORD, Conn. — A woman suspected in six bank robberies last week in southern New England has been arrested.
State police arrested 34-year-old Heather Brown of Norwich, Conn., on Monday. She is a suspect in one robbery each day last week, beginning Sept. 21 in Montville.
Brown has been charged in a bank robbery Saturday in Windsor, Conn. Police also want to question her about robberies in Westerly, R.I., Middletown, Conn.; West Springfield, Mass.; and East Hartford, Conn.
In each case, a woman told the teller she had a bomb and left with cash. No explosives have been found.
Brown is on probation after serving a 30-month sentence for a 2006 bank robbery in Groton, Conn.
FBI statistics show women committed less than 6 percent of bank robberies in the U.S. in 2008.
