Woman in Punjab kills her own sons

CHANDIGARH - Financial problems led a mother of three to club two of her sons to death in Patiala town in Punjab, 90 km from here, the police said Friday.

The woman, Amarjit Kaur, 30, was arrested by the police for murdering her two sons, Rakesh and Ramesh. Both were less than 10 years old.

Howver, her eldest son, Rajesh, 10, managed to escape when she beat the other two to death with a stick Thursday.

The woman told the police that she killed her sons as her family was unable to sustain itself owing to financial constraints.

Originally hailing from Orissa, Amarjit Kaur had married a resident of Punjab here 15 years back. Her husband, who works as a gardener, was away on work when she clubbed her sons to death.
