Wife says US contractor in Iraq to be released
BAGHDAD — The wife of one of five U.S. contractors detained in Iraq says her husband should be released soon.
Judy Feeney said Wednesday she has spoken with her husband Donald Feeney Jr., who told her he was being released and should be free within an hour.
She spoke to The Associated Press by phone from Fayetteville, N.C.
U.S.-backed Iraqi forces detained the contractors last week in connection with an investigation into the stabbing death of another American contractor, Jim Kitterman.
But there have been conflicting accounts about the allegations against the detainees.
The Iraqi government has said those detained were four Americans and an Iraqi, but the U.S. Embassy maintains that all five are Americans.
