Visa names Jenkyn to strategy & development post

SAN FRANCISCO — Visa Inc. on Wednesday announced the appointment of Oliver Jenkyn as the electronic payment network’s global head of strategy and corporate development.

Jenkyn succeeds Rupert Keeley, who was recently appointed group president of Visa’s regional operations covering Asia, the Pacific, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

In his new role, Jenkyn is responsible for developing and managing Visa’s corporate strategy across the 170 countries where the San Francisco-based company does business. Jenkyn reports to Joe Saunders, Visa’s chairman and CEO, and is a member of the company’s Operating Committee.

Jenkyn joins Visa from McKinsey & Co.’s San Francisco office, where as a partner he was a leader in the firm’s North American payments and retail banking practices. Before coming to McKinsey, Jenkyn worked with Bain & Co.’s private equity group.

Shares of Visa rose 52 cents, or nearly 0.8 percent, to $69.50 in afternoon trading.
