VCA Antech buys Eklin for undisclosed amount
LOS ANGELES — Veterinary services provider VCA Antech Inc. said Wednesday it bought Eklin Medical Systems Inc. for an undisclosed amount in a move to expand its technology and services.
Eklin sells digital radiology, ultrasound and practice management software systems in the veterinary market.
VCA claimed that the buyout makes it the largest supplier of diagnostic imaging equipment and other medical technology products to the veterinary market.
Gary R. Cantu, chairman and CEO of Eklin, will step down to spend time with family, continue angel investments and work on outside board activities, the company said.
Shares of VCA fell 25 cents to $26.45 in trading Wednesday.
