Geithner, French discuss stimulus
PARIS — U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is discussing economic stimulus plans with French officials in talks that also touch on the question of sanction againt Iran.
The office of Prime Minister Francois Fillon says the two men reviewed the size and efficiency of the plans to help the economy during the downturn and, looking forward, discussed the scheduled G20 meeting in Pittsburgh this September.
During their talks Thursday, the prime minister’s office said, Geithner and Fillon also reviewed “the question of sanctions against Iran.” There was no elaboration.
Geithner earlier visited Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates where he stressed the U.S. commitment to a strong dollar and promoting sustainable growth.
