US dollar higher, gold down in European trading

US dollar up, gold down in European trading
LONDON — The U.S. dollar was mostly higher against other currencies in European trading Monday. Gold fell.
The euro traded at $1.4059, down from $1.4077 late Friday in New York.
Other dollar rates:
—95.50 Japanese yen, up from 95.18
—1.0844 Swiss francs, up from 1.0818
—1.1574 Canadian dollars, up from 1.1524
The British pound was quoted at $1.654, up from $1.653 Friday.
Gold traded in London at $935.50 per troy ounce, down from $943.00 Friday.
