US dollar, gold rise in European morning trading

US dollar higher in Europe
LONDON — The U.S. dollar was up against other major currencies in European trading Thursday morning. Gold fell.
The euro traded at US$1.4100, down from US$1.4148 late Wednesday in New York.
Other dollar rates:
—96.65 Japanese yen, up from 96.52
—1.0804 Swiss francs, up from 1.0747
—1.1500 Canadian dollars, up from 1.1490
The British pound was quoted at US$1.6365, down from $1.6474.
Gold traded in London at US$936.00 per troy ounce, down from US$938.25 late Wednesday.
