US dollar down, gold higher in European trading

US dollar down, gold up in European trading
LONDON — The U.S. dollar was down against most other major currencies in European trading Monday morning. Gold rose.
The euro traded at $1.4272, up from $1.4216 late Friday in New York.
Other dollar rates:
—95.10 Japanese yen, up from 94.73
—1.0682 Swiss francs, down from 1.0701
—1.0817 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0839
The British pound was quoted at $1.6475, up from $1.6432.
Gold traded in London at $956.00 per troy ounce, up from $951.50 late Friday.
