WASHINGTON - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has warned Iran and North Korea over developing nuclear arms.

Speaking in Thailand, Clinton said that if Iran developed nuclear weapons, the US would extend a “defence umbrella” over Arab allies that would make it “unlikely that Iran will be any stronger or safer,” Clinton said.

She also warned the North Korean leaders, saying that Pyongyang faces “unrelenting pressure” of international sanctions unless it moves toward the goal of denuclearisation.

The US also was concerned that North Korea could share nuclear knowhow with Myanmar; the Daily News quoted Clinton, as saying.

North Korea could profit by returning to disarmament talks, she said, but will not be rewarded “just for returning to the table.”

At the Thai resort of Phuket, Clinton also signed what her aides called a landmark friendship treaty with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. (ANI)
