KOLKATA - Two young men from Jammu and Kashmir were arrested for allegedly possessing firearms and live cartridges, police said Sunday.

Halil Ahmed Bhat and Ramej Ahmed Fambu, both in their early 20s, were arrested from Barasat in North 24-Parganas district adjoining Kolkata Friday night.

“The duo was booked under Arms Act as we seized fire arms and cartridges from them. We have handed over all the investigation details to our Jammu and Kashmir counterparts,” North 24-Parganas Superintendent of Police Rahul Srivastava told IANS.

“They might send a police team to take both of them to their state,” he said.

According to police sources, both men were taken to the police station for interrogation and later presented before a local court.
