Two injured in landmine blast in Jharkhand

RANCHI - Two people were injured in a landmine blast triggered by Maoist rebels in Bokaro district of Jharkhand Sunday, police said.

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) team was patrolling when suspected rebels of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) triggered a landmine on a culvert near Kanjgiro village of Bokaro district, around 180 km from here, Sunday afternoon.

One CRPF personnel and one passerby were injured in the landmine blast, a police officer said.

Maoist rebels are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state. More than 1,450 people have been killed in Maoist-related violence in the last eight years.
