Two IIT students suffer bullet injuries

NEW DELHI - Two students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) suffered bullet injuries during an altercation between a petrol pump guard and a man in east Delhi, police said Wednesday.

Harish, 19, and Kake, 20, were admitted to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital after they fell victim to firing at the petrol pump in Madhu Vihar area around 9 p.m. Tuesday. Harish suffered a gun shot wound on his shoulder while Kake received injuries on his hand.

Harish lives in Noida and Kake in Holambi Kalan area of Delhi. They are studying in the IIT Roorki.

Harish and Kake with their friends had gone to fetch water. When they approached the petrol pump, they saw that the guard and some people were quarreling. Soon the guard aimed his gun at those he had an argument with and fired but the bullets hit the students, said a police officer.

The guard soon fled from the spot. Police said a case was registered and investigations were on.
