RANCHI - Three brothers were abducted and shot dead in Giridih district of Jharkhand, police said Thursday, adding that the incident could be a fallout of a dispute over a plot of land.

According to police, around 10 to 12 criminals, armed with guns, came to Uttam Yadav’s house in Belgi village Wednesday night and took him and his two brothers away at gunpoint. The three were later shot dead in a nearby jungle.

Giridih is 210 km away from this state capital.

‘Prima facie it appears a case of land dispute but we are also investigating the murder from other angles,’ district superintendent of police A.V. Minz told IANS on phone.
