Thai court frees 3 top protest leaders on bail

BANGKOK — A Thai court has freed on bail three top leaders of an anti-government movement accused of instigating violence during recent political protests.

Bangkok Criminal Court granted their release on condition that do not leave the country, instigate violence or interfere with ongoing investigations and court cases.

The men were arrested last week for illegally assembly and creating a public disturbance. Their group carried out violent protests after the government had decreed a state of emergency.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, whose resignation they are seeking, lifted the emergency decree earlier Friday. Their group has called for new protests this weekend.
