COPPELL, Texas — A medical examiner’s office in Texas has determined that a woman found dead at the same swimming pool where her two children drowned less than a year ago committed suicide.

Coppell police say Matthew Stocco pulled his wife, 35-year-old Van Ha Stocco, from the pool at their home Wednesday afternoon. She was pronounced dead at Las Colinas Medical Center. The medical examiner’s office said Thursday that she drowned.

She killed herself three weeks before the first anniversary of the drowning deaths of 3-year-old Marcus Stocco and his 1-year-old sister Catherine Stocco on July 8.

Authorities say Stocco told them he found the children at the bottom of the pool but couldn’t revive them.
