LONDON - Britain-based international grocery and general merchandising retail chain Tesco plans to launch an online fashion store by the year-end.

The website will offer thousands of items and sell Tesco’s label. The move comes as most retailers are struggling to persuade shoppers to spend on anything other than food, reports telegraph.co.uk.

‘The new site would be designed to look different from any of the retailer’s other online sites,’ said Tesco’s commercial director Richard Brasher.

‘Online fashion is still going strong because of better broadband connections which allow shoppers to see video of clothes being modelled and also allow them to browse by size, label, style or colour,’ he added.
