LUCKNOW - A 15-year-old girl was abducted and gang raped by five men in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district, police said Thursday.

“The incident took place Wednesday evening at Papad village in Badaun district,” Inspector N.K. Singh told IANS by phone.

According to police, the victim was going to a flour mill, when Ravindra Kumar, who lives in her neighbourhood, and his four friends abducted her. They took the girl to a secluded place and raped her after forcing her to ingest a sedative.

“The girl was found in an unconscious state. She is undergoing treatment at the district hospital. The victim’s medical report has confirmed the rape,” said Singh. Badaun is 250 km from Lucknow.

A case has been registered against the five men, who are absconding, he added.
