Cab crashes outside Philly’s Kimmel Center; 4 hurt

PHILADELPHIA — Police say a taxi jumped a curb and crashed into a crowd in front of Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, ejecting the cab’s driver and passenger and striking two pedestrians.

Police say a car was trying to merge into another lane when it hit the taxi at around 10 p.m. Wednesday in Center City. They say the taxi spun and ejected its occupants before it careened into a light post and struck two people, including a bicyclist.

A police spokeswoman told The Associated Press that all four people were in critical condition Wednesday night. Officials at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Hahnemann University Hospital could not immediately confirm the patients’ conditions.
