CHENNAI - The Tamil Nadu government will raise new coastal police stations, equip them with mechanised boats and recruit more personnel to increase security along the coastal areas, Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi told the state assembly Wednesday.

“Twelve coastal and suburban police stations each and 40 check posts will be set up,” Karunanidhi said in reply to a question raised in the assembly.

“The police stations on the coast will get 12-tonne and five-tonne mechanised boats and recruitment process of personnel will start shortly,” he said.
