Rickey Henderson to visit baseball Hall of Fame

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — Rickey Henderson, baseball’s all-time leader in stolen bases and runs scored, won’t be enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame until July.

But he’ll be getting an early look at his exhibit Friday, when he’s scheduled to tour the Cooperstown museum.

Henderson, arguably the greatest leadoff hitter ever, will be inducted July 26, along with former Boston Red Sox slugger Jim Rice. They’ll be honored along with the late New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians second baseman Joe Gordon, who was elected posthumously by the Veterans Committee.

Henderson won election to the Hall of Fame on his first try with 94.8 percent of the vote.

Rice is scheduled to visit Cooperstown on May 15.
