Marines shoot, wound an Iraqi throwing slipper at US troops who mistook it for a grenade

FALLUJAH, Iraq — American Marines shot and wounded an Iraqi man in the former flash point city of Fallujah believing he was throwing a grenade at them, the U.S. military said Thursday — but local police and witnesses said the object was only the man’s slipper.

Five policemen killed in suicide attack in Iraq

FALLUJAH - A suicide car bomber targeted a police checkpoint in western Iraq Saturday, killing at least five policemen, the police said.
