Platinum Equity completes purchase of San Diego newspaper, names chief restructuring officer

SAN DIEGO — Platinum Equity said Monday it completed its purchase of The San Diego Union-Tribune from Copley Press Inc., the private equity firm’s first venture in newspaper publishing.
