T-Mobile Encounters Another Outage

San Francisco- Tuesday, brought another round of mishap for the fourth ranked mobile carriers in the USA. T-Mobile, which is a unit of the ‘Deutsche Telekom AG’ (or DT), suffered another outage on the Tuesday evening at 5.30PM ET. A large number of users posted their complaints that their mobile service and the data service was not working in a way they should be. The data and the voice service had suffered a widespread outage by the end of the evening. According to the company’s spokesperson, at least 5 % of their users had been effected by 9.00 PM ET. This brings the figure to around 1.68 million users since there are around 33.5 million users registered with T-Mobile (as per the second quarter). The netizens posted their woeful tales on social networking sites like the Twitter.
Official statements were issued by the T-Mobile office, which was released at different points of time in the evening. The spokesperson was quoted as saying, “We are making good progress restoring voice and messaging service to affected customers.” He also said that the outage was being worked upon continuously by their “rapid response team”. He further went on to apologize to their inconvenienced customers.
Earlier, T-Mobile, had suffered a disruption with the mobile’s ‘Sidekick’ service, which caused the users to lose some of their contacts and their personal information. The company said that they had restored ‘most of the lost information’, but the users claimed otherwise. The company had to stop the sales for ‘Sidekick’ and Microsoft had to issue a statement, admitting that the subsidiary running Sidekick underwent a server failure.
