Demjanjuk at Ohio home; Germany expects him Tues.
SEVEN HILLS, Ohio — Suspected Nazi guard John Demjanjuk (dem-YAHN’-yuk) remains at his home in Ohio, but a German Justice Ministry spokesman says the retired autoworker is expected to be in Germany as early as Tuesday.
Demjanjuk (dem-YAHN’-yuk) and his family have yet to offer clues about their response to a notice that he surrender to U.S. authorities.
Immigration officers delivered the notice Friday. Demjanjuk’s family hasn’t said whether the government set a deadline.
Reporters gathered outside Demjanjuk’s suburban Cleveland home early Monday morning in anticipation that he could turn himself over to federal authorities.
A warrant in Munich accuses the 89-year-old native Ukrainian of 29,000 counts of accessory to murder at a death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland.
